International students shaping OsloMet through the International Committee

The International Committee at the Student Parliament gives international students a platform to share experiences, raise important issues, and help shape a more inclusive university community at OsloMet. For Lisann, an Erasmus Master’s student from Germany, joining the committee became an opportunity to ensure that the perspectives of exchange students were part of the conversation.

“Being part of the International Committee at OsloMet gave me the opportunity to actively contribute the perspective of an exchange student to the Student Parliament,” Lisann says.

The committee brings together students from different backgrounds to discuss how international students experience both academic and everyday life at OsloMet. Through these conversations, members help identify challenges, strengthen communication, and contribute ideas that can improve inclusion across the university.

For Lisann, one of the most rewarding aspects of being involved was the opportunity to collaborate with fellow students and bring her own perspective into the discussions.

“The committee creates a space where international students can share ideas, raise challenges, and help improve communication and inclusion within the university,” she says. “I especially enjoyed working together with students from different backgrounds and contributing my own international perspective.”

The International Committee offers students the chance not only to connect with others, but also to influence how OsloMet develops as an international and welcoming university.

Lisann encourages other exchange students to get involved.

“I would definitely recommend joining the committee to other exchange students who want to get involved and have a voice within the university community.”
